A Conversation On The Theater

This salon was recorded on Sunday, May 18, 2008 in the Library Nook of the Buli Cafe on Cedar Springs Road in Dallas. Joining RICK VANDERSLICE around the table are 2 critics and a playwright. ELAINE LINER is theater critic of The Dallas Observer. MARK LOWRY is theater critic of The Ft. Worth Star-Telegram. TOM SIME is a former journalist with The Dallas Morning News. Today, he is a playwright and theater producer. With more that 60 theater companies in the area presenting and producing everything from Musicals, Traditional, Live Performance, Youth Theater, Broadway, and Fringe, this art form is very much alive and well in Dallas and Ft. Worth. Our conversation begins with a look back at the rich history of live theater in our community and then moves on to the exciting present and the future possibilities of our theater arts scene.
