Should America Abolish The Death Penalty ?

Posted in Salon Episodes with tags , , , , , on July 20, 2008 by Rick Vanderslice

This Buli Salon was recorded on Sunday, July 13, 2008 in the Library Nook of the Buli Cafe in Dallas. Today we debate the death penalty in the United States. With the close 5 to 4 decision from the Supreme Court, finding it to be cruel and unusual punishment to apply the death penalty to child rape convictions, unless the victim dies, our salon members consider the impact of this emotional ruling and consider the larger social and moral dimension of todays question: Should America Abolish The Death Penalty? Joining RICK VANDERSLICE are two regular salon members: writer and blogger RJ JACKSON and activist, writer, and podcaster JOHN SELIG. Also joining in for the first time is real estate executive THOMAS GARCIA.
